Kambo Ceremony-Amazonic Purge

History of Kambo:

Origins and Traditional Use:

Kambo's origins trace back centuries as a traditional medicine used by Amazonian tribes like the **Katukina**, **Yawanawá**, and **Matses**. These indigenous civilizations have incorporated Kambo into their daily lives for various purposes:

1. **Spiritual and Physical Cleansing**: Shamans and tribal communities utilize Kambo as a powerful tool for spiritual and physical cleansing. It is believed that those who use Kambo with reverence and respect receive wisdom and healing properties from the frog's spirit.

2. **Enhancing Energy Levels**: Kambo was traditionally used to enhance stamina, making it valuable for activities like hunting.

3. **Eliminating Negative Energies and Toxins**: Indigenous tribes believed that Kambo could eliminate negative energies, toxins, and spiritual blockages, promoting overall well-being and harmony.

4. **Purging Process**: The Kambo ritual involves creating multiple small burns on the skin's surface (usually on the upper arm) using the tip of a smoldering stick. Subsequently, Kambo secretions are applied to these open wounds, and the body rapidly absorbs bioactive peptides from the frog's secretion. Recipients typically experience sensations such as increased heart rate, warmth, pressure in the head, nausea, and vomiting—considered vital parts of the cleansing process.

## The Kambo Frog and Its Secretions

At the core of this healing practice is the giant monkey frog—a magnificent creature with vibrant green skin and striking red eyes. Collecting the frog's secretions involves gently scraping its skin and then applying them carefully to small burned points on the recipient's skin. These secretions contain a potent cocktail of bioactive peptides, including phyllocaerulein, phyllomedusin, and phyllokinin, each with unique properties.

Lucy Lou is an artist painter carrying the tradition of body painting in the way of the Tribe, to remember the importance of the letting go of the ID. When she entered in a Sun Dance in Mexico, it started her journey of learning and reconnecting this Soul to the ritual knowledge of ceremony Lakota. She has lived 5 years in South Americas receiving and later after learning native Medicine, she started to share the healing with the encouragement of several masters.

Despite potential discomfort during the process, many individuals who have undergone Kambo rituals describe it as profoundly transformative. Vomiting during the ceremony is seen as a purging process for physical and emotional toxins, leaving participants feeling lighter and mentally clearer afterward.

Here are some key points about Kambo:

1. **Non-Psychoactive**: Unlike some other substances, Kambo is non-psychoactive and will not induce a "high." It is also known by various names such as "kampu," "vaccino da floresta," and "sapo" (which means "toad" in Spanish). It should not be confused with the Sonoran desert toad (Bufo Alvarius), which is a potent psychedelic.

2. **Harvesting Process**: The frogs are captured, and their limbs are gently tied with thread to four vertical twigs. The secretion is then harvested by scraping it off their skin. The frogs are released physically unharmed. The clear mucus-like secretion is spread onto bamboo sticks and air-dried for storage and transport.

3. **Bioactive Peptides**: Kambo contains several bioactive peptides responsible for its physiological effects. Some of these peptides include Phyllocaerulein, Phillokinin, Phyllomedusin, Sauvagine, and Dermaseptin. These molecules likely provide the frogs with defenses against predators.

4. **Ceremonial Use**: Among indigenous tribes, there is no duality between body and soul; 3D and spirit coexist and are intertwined. As with other soulful medicines, Kambo is served ceremonially. During a Kambo ceremony, superficial burns are made on the recipient's skin, followed by applying Kambo using a short length of rainforest vine. The thick red sap of the "dragon's blood" tree (Croton lechleri) is then applied as an antiseptic .

5. **Unique Administration**: Unlike other medicines, Kambo enters through the lymphatic system. Snorting, ingesting, or introducing it into the bloodstream is not recommended.
