All About Anandamide AKA the Bliss Molecule

Although we have come a long way when it comes to scientific discoveries, there’s still so much we’re learning about the body and the world around us. There are breakthroughs and new discoveries happening every day in the scientific community and they’re all so phenomenal! One of such amazing discoveries has been the Endocannabinoid System or ECS. Scientists have recently found that it is the mastermind behind regulatory systems in the body, and is responsible for regulating many functions from mood to immune response. Anandamide is one such molecule produced by the Endocannabinoid System and it has proved to be so important that it has garnered the name “the bliss molecule”. And we’ll tell you why!

What is the role of Anandamide?

Anandamide, as scientists have found recently, is responsible for the regulation of mood. It also helps reduce discomfort when one is recovering from a workout. It is essentially responsible for helping people feel joyous and happy – or you could say it works on helping people experience BLISS. When tested on rats, Anadamide reverses depressive-like behavior and eases low mood related behaviours.

Some of its benefits include:

  • It’s an all natural way to enhance well-being
  • Relieves temporary discomfort
  • Impacts memory
  • Regulates appetite
  • Accelerates workout recovery

Where does this Bliss Molecule come from? And how can we produce more of it?

Anadamide is produced totally naturally by the body and can be secreted on demand.  One of the many functions of the Endocannabinoid System is in fact, producing and interacting with Anandamide to help us feel more at ease, blissful and relaxed. It also occurs naturally in foods like chocolate.

If it’s produced naturally, can we ever run short of Anandamide?

This comes down to the Endocannabinoid System. Much like other regulatory systems in the body, even the ECS is sometimes starved of the nutrients it needs and is therefore not able to function properly and produce enough Anandamide. But don’t worry, there’s an answer! And that’s  CBD. Botanical cannabinoids like CBD help the ECS maintain homeostasis. They are structurally so similar to the ECS that they help complement the Anandamide that is naturally produced in the body. Supporting and nourishing your Endocannabinoid System with CBD is the best way to restore balance and encourage the ECS to produce more Anandamide.

If you struggle with mood or depressive disorders, consider trying CBD because the molecular root of it could be the lack of Anandamide in your body. You can either consult our reputed Doctors or find a CBD product and dosage that works for you on our website!
