Hemp and Good Sleep: the undeniable correlation

If you’re a full-blown insomniac or if you have mild sleep issues, we’ve got some great news for you. Flush those pharma pills down the drain and go for a holistic alternative that’s even more effective – we’re not saying this, science is.

In a recent study conducted on patients with sleep problems, the results found that CBD decreased sleeplessness by 4.5%. Let’s face it, sleeplessness is more than just a small obstacle. Its negative effects seep into our life in numerous ways. Many individuals find it hard to fall asleep, stay asleep or both.

If we dive into looking for the root cause, there can be many – chronic pain, physical injuries, heart disease, restless leg syndrome, even something as simple as heartburn or eating a meal too large can have you up at night, and let’s not forget the classic – work.

Being too tired has become so normal that it’s often overlooked. And missed sleep is no walk in the park. Here are some ways it can take a toll on your health: It may cause physical pain, increased inflammation, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, weight gain, cognitive problems like memory issues, psychosocial distress and even mood disorders in some serious cases. And on a social scale, it can lead to higher road accidents, industrial disasters, distressed interactions and more.

So how can one make sure that they fall asleep and stay asleep for at least 7-8 hours?

There are a number of ways to do so naturally.

For starters, keep your devices away from your eyes for a minimum of 1 hour before the time you want to hit the sack. The blue light disrupts melatonin production, news stories stimulate your brain activity and social media can stir up emotions and thoughts. To fall asleep, you want your mind to be cool and your melatonin producing at an optimal rate. Another easy method to increase sleep quality is night time baths.

And lastly, our favourite method of falling asleep – full-spectrum hemp oil. While science is still catching up to this incredible wonder, the few that have been conducted show that the results are very promising indeed. Cannabinoids are shown to have a pronounced effect on those with chronic health conditions. They effectively reduce any type of physical discomfort and consequently aid in a good night’s sleep. They are shown to reduce sleep disturbances in addition to improving sleep quality – a win-win! Although CBD get most of the attention when it comes to matters of sleep and calm, the full array of cannabinoids, terpenes, phytonutrients, minerals, and essential fatty acids, all play an important role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle.

If you’re intrigued and decide to the hemp oil or any of our CBD products, just know that the tincture in absorbed much quicker than the capsules. Another great option is the full-spectrum hemp oil. Either apply it on your skin or consume a tablespoon before bed. You can also make the experience better by combining it with aromatherapy!
