Women of Cannabis: How Andrea McLean dealt with menopause using CBD!

Menopause is the time that marks the end of your menstrual cycles. It's diagnosed after you've gone 12 months without a menstrual period. Menopause can happen in your 40s or 50s. Menopause and all its symptoms can be grueling. Women dread this phase in their lives because of the sheer trouble they have to undergo for an extended period (literally) of time. Just to break it down for you, here are some very common symptoms that almost all women experience:

  • Irregular periods.
  • Vaginal dryness.
  • Hot flashes.
  • Chills.
  • Night sweats.
  • Sleep problems.
  • Mood changes.
  • Weight gain and slowed metabolism

There are many methods to go about this experience. You can either go through it kicking and screaming with no help, take help from your doctors through hormone balancing meds or you can turn to natural and effective methods like CBD. This is what Scottish Journalist and Television presenter Andrea McLean did. She was introduced to CBD by her husband and has admitted that she turned to using the herbal remedy of CBD oil - when she heard about it being used to relieve side effects of going through hormonal changes. She said in 2018: ‘I was 37 when the hot sweats started, mainly at night. I was like, “What?” ‘I got pregnant shortly afterwards — there is a rush of hormones afterwards and you need to be really careful around that time.’ Apart from menopause, she also uses it to help with her anxiety which can hinder her day-to-day life. 'It [CBD oil] has massively taken the edge off things with the flushes and it has made me less anxious because anxiety is still a key thing for me.' She shared. Andrea gushed about CBD oil, saying it has ‘massively taken the edge off things’ with regards to her hot flushes.
