About Butterfly Pea Flower
Clitoria Ternatea is a plant species belonging to the family Fabaceae and is commonly known as Asian pigeonwings, blue bellvine, cordofan pea, blue pea, Darwin pea or butterfly pea. The latin name of the genus ‘clitoria’ came from the word ‘clitoris’ because the flowers of this vine were imagined to have the shape of human female genitals whilst the species name is thought to have been derived from the city of Ternate in the Indonesian archipelago.
